Copy Google Sheets rows into a Google Docs table

Updated 27 October 2026

A recurring report often means copying rows from a spreadsheet into a document table. Lupdo can save the selection, copy, tab change and paste as one repeatable task.

Demonstrate the transfer

  1. Open the sheet and document in separate Chrome tabs with your Google account signed in.
  2. Start Record a task. Select the required cells in Google Sheets and copy them with your normal keyboard shortcut.
  3. Go to the Google Docs tab, place the cursor in the intended table cell and paste.
  4. Finish recording and name the task.

Current values, not an old snapshot

When repeated, the task copies what is in the source cells at that time. The recording teaches Lupdo where to copy and paste; it does not replace the source with the values from the first demonstration. Check the destination table after the paste.

Another range or document

Choose With changes to request a different range or explain a different source or destination. Inspect the exact cells and document proposed before approving. If the request cannot be interpreted safely, Lupdo should ask rather than choose a document for you. Natural-language changes to the source or destination require AI.

Things to watch

If Google Docs asks whether to link the table, Lupdo can repeat the choice recorded in the task. If that question was not part of the recording, it should not guess. Selected destination cells also need room for the copied range.

This workflow concerns Google Sheets and Google Docs in Chrome, not desktop Excel or Word. For copying and verifying the paste, the extension reads the sheet and document using your own Google session. Those documents do not pass through Lupdo's server for that transfer. AI preparation, if requested, has separate data handling explained in the privacy policy.
